SICAMOUS — The BC Wildfire Service is working on putting out a few new fire starts in the Kamloops and Okanagan areas.

Fire Information Officer Erika Berg says after some stormy weather last night, a few new wildfires have appeared in the Kamloops Fire Centre.

“East of Hummingbird Creek wildfire, which is about 12 or so kilometres southeast of Sicamous. At this point in time it is considered a spot fire, about 90 square metres,” She explains, “And we have an initial attack crew on site, surveying this fire and surrounding areas.”

Another spot fire is being attended by crews near Kalamalka Lake in Vernon, and Berg says a third wildfire start near Penticton has since been put out.
