KAMLOOPS —Kamloops Fire and Rescue and Wildfire B.C. crews worked quickly last night to hold down a small wildfire in the Batchelor Hills area.

Platoon Captain Daryl Cooper says the fire was called in at 6:20 PM Wednesday night.

KFR responded with a bush truck, and added two more bush trucks when they were able to assess the blaze, which was right on the fringe of City Limits. Wildfire B.C. also responded with two initial attack crews, and between the two groups got the blaze under control.

B.C. Wildfire estimated the blaze got to two hectares before it was brought under control. Cooper says a bird dog was sent up but no air drops had to be made. He says the fire was well away from any structures.

A fire crew remained on scene overnight to monitor for any hot spots. Cooper says they’ll send up additional resources this morning to do more mop up.
