WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — Human remains have been discovered just west of Williams Lake.

North District RCMP Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says a fisherman made the discovery yesterday in the river near the Sheep Creek Bridge.

The Williams Lake RCMP says it is now reviewing all missing persons files, along with the BC Coroners Service, in a bid to confirm the identity.

“We are aware of the most recent missing person investigation and the charges that have been laid and we are exhausting all possibilities to determine if there is any connection with these investigations,” Williams Lake Insp. Jeff Pelley, Officer in Charge.

Earlier this month, two men in Williams Lake were charged with attempted murder and kidnapping.

Before those charges were laid, RCMP released information on a missing person in relation to these incidents — Branton Regner.

A search of the Fraser River was conducted at the time.

The charges came after a homicide in the city on Aug. 6, and a related incident at the Rudy Johnson Bridge on Aug. 9.

Police emphasize that the person whose remains were found has not been identified at this point.

If you have any information about this, you are encouraged to call the police.
