Fire crews respond to wildfire above Batchelor Hills

KAMLOOPS – A wildfire has broken out above the Batchelor Hills area of Kamloops.

Smoke was intially spotted in the early evening hours Wednesday.

Kamloops Fire Rescue responded to the wildfire with at least two of its bush trucks, which are small pick-up trucks, modified with fire fighting equipment. The trucks are nimble enough to manouevre through forested areas.

The BC Wildfire Service is also responding with six personnel on the ground. Fire Information Officer Madison Smith says air support will also be employed to fight the fire.
