NETFLIX RELEASES FIRST TRAILER FOR THE KING: Netflix is sharing a first look at David Michod‘s The King, starring Timothee Chalamet. The Shakespearean adaptation will premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 2nd. Chalamet plays King Henry V as he navigates palace politics, war and his personal life. Joel Edgerton, Robert Pattinson, Sean Harris, Lily-Rose Depp and Ben Mendelsohn also star. Netflix will release the film this fall.

COLIN FARRELL LAUNCHES PRODUCTION FIRM: Colin Farrell is teaming up with Lee Magiday (producer of The Favourite) and Hopscotch Features on a screen adaptation of The Ruin, an Irish crime novel by Dervla McTiernans. It marks the first project with his new production company, Chapel Place Productions. The Ruin was the first in the Cormac Reilly series, and has been top seller in the U.K., Ireland, Australia and the U.S. The latest novel in the series, The Good Turn, will be published next year.

BETTY WHITE LEADS NBC‘s FOOTBALL PROMO BLITZ: Betty White is keeping things fresh. The 97-year-old has been snagged as a key attraction in NBC‘s push to bring a broader audience to Sunday Night Football. A new promo features White talking about a September 5th match-up between the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears. She tells viewers: “There’s only one thing more badass than this year’s kickoff – and you’re looking at her.”

STACY MARTIN & HAYLEY SQUIRES JOIN LOUIS WAIN: Amazon‘s Louis Wain is rounding out its cast. Stacy Martin (Nymphomaniac, Vox Lux), Sharon Rooney (Dumbo), Hayley Squires (I, Daniel Blake) and Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education) have joined Benedict Cumberbatch and Claire Foy, who are starring in the biopoic about the famous British painter (played by Cumberbatch). Louis Wain is shooting in London now.
