KAMLOOPS — Twenty-two firefighters remain on site of a wildfire that broke out on Monday afternoon (Aug. 26) near Savona, but the B.C. Wildfire Service says the fire is ‘being held’ with a successful attack effort that suppressed the 40-hectare blaze.

“Upon arrival this morning, it was determined there was no growth overnight,” said Fire Information Officer Madison Smith. “They changed the status of the fire as ‘being held,’ which means we don’t anticipate any further spread beyond the existing or pre-determined boundaries.”

Firefighters are looking for hot spots that may pop up during the heat of the day. Temperatures are expected to reach 31°C. Meantime, fire investigators are on scene determining the cause of the blaze.
