SALMON ARM, B.C. — The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) says two people were injured when a small plane crashed at Salmon Arm’s airport Tuesday morning (Aug. 27).

The incident happened just before 9:00 a.m.

TSB Pacific Region Manager Yanick Sarazin says the plane landed short of the Shuswap Regional Airport runway and crashed.

Two people were on board at the time.

According to BC Emergency Health Services, one patient was airlifted to hospital in serious condition, while the other was taken to hospital by ground ambulance in stable condition.

Sarazin says the TSB will look into what happened remotely.

“There’s damage to the aircraft and the emergency crew responded on the runway,” said Sarazin. “We are going to do what we call a Class 5 investigation, which [means] we’re going to gather some data and do some analysis, but we’re actually not going to be physically on site.”
