Two people arrested after high-speed escape
QUESNEL, B.C. – Two people have been arrested in Quesnel after a high-speed escape from officers.
On Saturday, August 24 at around 7:12 AM Quesnel RCMP located a Grey Honda Accord that had fled from Williams Lake RCMP the day before. The vehicle was spotted on Highway 97 coming down Dragon Lake Hill. Police attempted to stop the car, which got away at a high speed.
RCMP spotted the vehicle not too long after, heading down a dead-end road. Front line officers set up a tire deflation device and were successful in stopping the vehicle, which proceeded to collide with a cement curb and roll backwards hitting a police car.
A male driver fled from the car carrying a duffle bag, only to be arrested later. RCMP believe the property found in the duffle bag was stolen. Police arrested a female passenger without incident, both suspects have been released on a promise to appear. The investigation is still ongoing. No one was injured.
