Taylor’s Plans To Outwit Scooter Braun
Taylor Swift says she plans to re-record her earlier songs after manager Scooter Braun purchased her old label and obtained the rights to the masters.
In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Swift said, “Yeah, absolutely,” when asked about re-recording, without providing further detail. Swift spoke out in June after Braun purchased Big Machine Label Group in a $300 million deal, getting the masters of her first six albums in the process. The singer alleged that she was subjected to “incessant, manipulative bullying” by Braun for years and that he has now “stripped me of my life’s work, that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy.” Swift’s contract reportedly may complicate her ability to actually re-record the songs.
CBS says Swift addresses that controversy and other topics – “her songwriting process, growing up in the business, addressing her haters in music, her insecurities, her life today” – during an in-depth interview at her home and in the studio. The segment also goes behind the scenes as Swift works on a music video for a new song. Video from the interview has yet to be released, but the full interview will air this Sunday.
Meanwhile, Taylor’s team, including her dad Scott Swift, delivered pizza to fans waiting outside overnight for her performance today on Good Morning America. Taylor will be performing live from Central Park ahead of the release of her new album, Lover, due out tomorrow
