CLINTON,B.C. — Officials working at a rockslide in northwest B-C say a record number of more than two-thousand-five-hundred salmon — the most in one day — were transported by helicopters on Monday ( August 20th).

They say more than 23-thousand fish have been transported so far.

A rockslide in late June at Big Bar, northeast of Lilliooet, created a five-metre waterfall blocking the majority of hundreds of thousands of chinook salmon from migrating upstream to spawn.

Several salmon species migrate along the Fraser River, including chinook, sockeye, coho and pink.
