KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops is warning the public to avoid the area between Riverside Park and Pioneer Park as a sow black bear and her cub are there.

In a news release, the City says for public and animal safety, the area has been temporarily closed off. Conservation officers and bylaw officers are onsite to monitor the bears.

The affected area includes the east end of Riverside Park and Pioneer Park. Riverside Park remains open.

Again, the City reminds residents to manage attractants like garbage or fruit trees.
