Aug 19, 2019 | 11:50 AM

KAMLOOPS — Stage One of the Victoria Street West improvement project will be opened up to one westbound lane today.

In a news release, the City says the priority transit and emergency services lane on Lansdowne Street between Second Avenue and First Avenue will remain in place.

Transit, emergency vehicles and other traffic will merge into the one westbound travel lane below the BCLC.

The slip lane from Victoria Street West to Seymour Street West will remain closed until further notice.

Seymour Street West will be limited to one eastbound travel lane.

First Avenue between Lansdowne Street and Seymour Street will remain one-way, southbound. Traffic travelling up First Avenue will be able to turn left onto Seymour or continue up First.

There will be a traffic control person at the intersection of First Avenue and Seymour Street to assist motorists and pedestrians.

On Saturday (Aug. 25), Victoria Street West below BCLC, and Seymour Street West is tentatively scheduled to be fully reopened to traffic by end of day. Traffic below BCLC will be westbound, and traffic on Seymour Street West will be eastbound.

First Avenue between Lansdowne Street and Seymour Street will return to two-way directional traffic as well this weekend. Traffic travelling up First will be able to turn left onto Seymour Street or continue up First.

Traffic travelling eastbound on Seymour Street West will be able to turn left or right onto First Avenue, or continue on Seymour Street.

Crews will be paving Seymour street this week.

Stage Two work — the south side of Victoria Street West between the Mustard Seed and Boomers Automotive — continues this week.
