KAMLOOPS — McArthur Island Park is temporarily closed due to a mother bear and her two cubs being in the area.

The City of Kamloops says in a news release that the BC Conservation Office recommended the closure for public safety.

The mother has shown aggressive signs of behaviour, the release states, and for the safety of the public and the bears the park will be closed until the bears have moved on.

The park entrances along with the walking bridge are part of the closure.
