Two new fires outside of Ashcroft suspected to be human caused
ASHCROFT — Emergency crews were called to two minor fires outside of Ashcroft along Highway 1 last night.
Fire Information Officer Taylor MacDonald says both brush fires, south of Ashcroft, were attended by the Ashcroft Fire Department, alongside 26 personnel from the BC Wildfire Service.
“The one that is east of the highway is estimated at 0.5 hectares, and the one west of the highway is estimated at 5.3 hectares after some more accurate tracking on the ground.”
No structures were threatened, the smoke was blowing away from the highway, and MacDonald says as of this morning, both fires are being held.
