WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — A second man has been charged with attempted murder after an incident in Williams Lake last weekend.

Williams Lake RCMP say 23-year-old Michael Drynock remains at large. Drynock is charged with two counts of kidnapping and two counts of attempted murder.

The charges come after a homicide in Williams Lake on Aug. 6, and a related incident at the Rudy Johnson Bridge in Williams Lake last Friday (Aug. 9).

Jayson Gilbert is already in custody and, like Drynock, is charged with two counts each of kidnapping and attempted murder.

A warrant has been issued for Drynock, and police would like the public’s help tracking him down.

According to a news release from Williams Lake RCMP, the public should consider him dangerous and should avoid approaching him.

Over the past five years, Drynock has appeared in Williams Lake and Kamloops for offences across the region. Some of those charges include assault, discharging a firearm, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and escaping from lawful custody. Most of those charges were stayed after Drynock pleaded guilty to breaches.

On Aug. 14, a warrant was issued for Drynock for charges of carrying a weapon, and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Earlier this week, RCMP released information on a missing person in relation to these incidents — Branton Regner.

A search of the Fraser River for Regner was suspended on Thursday. RCMP say further searches may be conducted in the future.
