Rate of overdose deaths in Interior Health region lowest in province

KAMLOOPS β The number of fatal overdoses in B.C. is steadily declining.
A new report by the BC Coroners Service shows there were 73 suspected fatal overdoses in June, which represents a 35 per cent decrease from the number of deaths in June 2018.
βFor the first six months of 2019, there were 538 illicit drug toxicity deaths, a decrease of approximately 30 (per cent) over the same six-month period in 2018 when 763 were reported,β the report states.
Fentanyl has been detected in most overdose deaths in the province.
