Dye-stained bank robbery suspect can’t hide from Kamloops RCMP

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP have a suspect in custody after a bank robbery this morning.

The robbery was called in from the TD Bank location at the City View Shopping Centre off of Highway 5A in Aberdeen.

According to an RCMP news release, a man had presented a note to a teller “suggesting he was armed.” The teller gave the man some money, but included a dye pack that later exploded in the suspect’s pocket.

The dye-stained suspect was arrested a few blocks away from the bank.

Kamloops RCMP’s Staff Sgt. Mathias Van Laer says local members were helped by Central Interior Traffic Services Mounties and other specialized units who were in the area in making the arrest.
