BIG BAR, B.C. — A co-ordinated response to the major rockslide on the Fraser River is set to hit the 10,000 Sockeye mark for transporting fish by helicopter above the slide site.

According to a news release today from the federal and provincial governments as well as local First Nations, 9,995 Sockeye have been airlifted past the site of a major rockslide in the Big Bar area.

Another 3,257 Chinook have been choppered up the river.

Fish passage has been hampered by tons of rocks that came down into the river earlier this summer.
