JAMIE DORNAN, ALEC BALDWIN & CHRISTIAN SLATER TO STAR IN DR. DEATH: Jamie Dornan, Alec Baldwin and Christian Slater have signed on to star in Dr. Death, a limited drama series for UCP based on a Wondery podcast of the same name. Wondery also sold Homecoming to Amazon with Julia Roberts, and Dirty John, set to hit Bravo with Connie Britton in talks to star.
SARAH GOLDBERG FORECASTS SCARY BARRY: Barry star Sarah Goldberg tells The Hollywood Reporter that she is ready to go super dark on Season 3 for her character Sally. She warned fans: “It would be interesting to explore the idea of achieving the success we think we want, but without being fully cooked, without being mentally healthy…. Listen! I want Gena Rowlands. I want to go the whole way! I want A Woman Under the Influence. I want all of it!”
GEENA DAVIS TALKS GENDER BIAS: Geena Davis sat down with Variety to discuss what’s changed (and hasn’t) in the 15 years since she founded herInstitute on Gender in Media. She helped Tom Donahue produce the documentary This Changes Everything, which was made to shed light on gender bias on-camera and behind the scenes. “My institute provided the research that was in the film and I tried to help get him interviews with people he was interested in talking to. I tried to be as active as I could and as he needed me to be,” she says. While she admits she isn’t aware of a “magic answer,” she says she thinks it starts with people making “very conscious decisions to try to overcome their biases and do better.”
GUESS, JORDACHE RIVALRY GETTING DOCUMENTARY TREATMENT: 101 Studios is set to produce a series based on Christopher Byron‘s book Skin Tight: The Bizarre Story of Guess vs. Jordache. The show will document the rivalry between the companies helmed by two immigrant Sephardic Jewish families. The book was published by Simon & Schuster in 1992.
