SQUAMISH, B.C. – UPDATE: The popular Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish is closed after its cable broke and several cabins plummeted to ground early Saturday morning.

RCMP say the investigation is still in its early stages, but their preliminary assessment suggests that a cable was cut.

The gondola wasn’t in operation when the cabins fell, and no one was injured.

Police are requesting that people stay away from the area, including nearby outdoor trails.

They’re also asking anyone who was in the area between four and nine a.m. Saturday to contact them.
