HONEY BOY TRAILER DROPS: Amazon Studios released the first trailer for the Shia LaBeouf-penned Honey Boy Thursday. The film tells the story of Otis Lort from childhood through early adulthood as he navigates his acting career. LaBeouf stars as a fictionalized version of his father, an ex-clown and felon. FKA twigs, Maika Monroe, Natasha Lyonne, Martin Starr, Byron Bowers, Laura San Giacomo and Clifton Collins Jr. also star.
TAIKA WAITITI TO DIRECT NEXT GOAL WINS: Fox has signed the Thor: Ragnorak director Taika Waititi to direct and write the Next Goal Wins for producer Garrett Basch and Andy Serkis before he tackles Thor 4.
NETFLIX SCORES DEAL FOR GOT CREATORS: The Emmy Award-winning Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have landed at Netflix for an overall deal to write, produce and direct new series and films. The numbers have not been confirmed, but it is reportedly in the 9-figure range.
CBS & AT&T STRIKE CARRIAGE DEAL: CBS and AT&T have arrived at a carriage deal, ending a blackout on AT&T’s satellite giant DirecTV. The companies reached a deal which ended CBS stations in NYC, LA and across the nation went dark on DirecTV, DirecTV Now and U-verse cable since July 20th. The multi-year deal also brings CBS Sports and Smithsonian Channel and all stations to AT&T homes as of Thursday.
