Wildfire service asking public to be more careful with outdoor fires
KAMLOOPS — The B.C. Wildfire Service has asked the public to be more careful with fire use as the forests dry out.
With the hot temperatures this week, it hasn’t taken long for conditions to change quickly. 32 abandoned campfires were discovered over the long weekend, and officials say those actions can lead to fires which divert valuable resources from naturally-occurring wildfires.
Five new starts were reported since August 2nd in the Kamloops Fire Centre, only two of which were caused by lightning.
