West Nile virus most active in August: Interior Health
KAMLOOPS — Interior Health has issued an advisory around the dangers of the West Nile virus. It says the species of mosquito that is most likely to carry the virus, becomes more active in August.
To prevent yourself from being infected, Interior Health spokesperson Leah Feist suggests residents should try to avoid outdoor activities during the hours around dawn and dusk, when the mosquitos are most active.
“If you’re in an area with lots of mosquitos, wear loose-fitting, light-coloured full length pants and a long-sleeved shirt,” said Feist.
