Sun Peaks summer visit count on track for top 3 spot

KAMLOOPS — While being known as a wintertime destination, Sun Peaks Resort has had no problem attracting visitors in the summertime.

Judging by how well the tourist count has been pacing, President and CEO of Tourism Sun Peaks, Arlene Schieven, says this summer will be one of the top three for visitors.

“We’ve seen really strong visitation to the mountain bike park, as well as hikers. So lots of people are taking advantage of those activities,”

She says, “We had a great turnout for Serena Ryder on the weekend, and we have retro concert weekend coming up in August, and that’s always a big draw as well.”

Schieven says the heat hasn’t been too bad, and the lack of smoke this summer has helped to keep people interested in a Sun Peaks trip.
