Foul play may be behind disappearance of Surrey men

SPENCES BRIDGE, B.C. — Police now believe foul play could be behind the disappearance of two Surrey men last month.

The development comes as police announced they had executed a search warrant at a business in Spences Bridge, the destination 38-year-old Ryan Provencher and 37-year-old Richard Scurr were thought to be headed to.

RCMP says the two men haven’t been seen since July 17. Police found their white Jeep Cherokee parked in a wooded area near Logan Lake a few days later.

A search of the area failed to turn up any signs of foul play. However police said the lack of contact between the men and their families was unusual. Police moved the vehicle to Kamloops where it underwent a complete examination for evidence.

Police haven’t revealed what they were looking for in the business, other than the fact they were searching for clues that would lead them to the location of Provencher and Scurr. Earlier in the investigation, police said one of the two men had regular dealings with the business.

Until today, police had refused to publically say foul play may be behind the mysterious disappearance. Spences Bridge is located approximately 35 kilometres northeast of Lytton and 270 kilometres northeast of Surrey.
