Tickets for annual Turtle River Race now on sale

KAMLOOPS — Tickets for the 18th annual Turtle River Race are now available with a chance to win a trip for two wherever WestJet flies.

The Turtle River Race goes on Sept. 14 at Pioneer Park with up to 1,850 plastic turtles dumped into the Thompson River for each of the two races. The first turtles to float down to the finish line win. The race is a fundraiser for Western Canada Theatre, which raised $25,000 last year for youth programs.

“That includes our subsidized student matinee program where students from Kamloops and the region are able to attend our professional, made-in-Kamloops productions at the Sagebrush Theatre and Pavillion Theatre,” said Evan Klassen from Western Canada Theatre. “And also supporting our Stage One Theatre School.”

The tickets are $10 each or three for $25. Each tickets gets you a turtle into the race with $15,000 worth of prizes available to win.
