Investigation underway after man found dead at bottom of cliff in Shuswap park

MARA, B.C. — Sicamous RCMP are calling the death of a man in a popular park a tragic incident.

At roughly noon Monday, Sicamous RCMP responded to a report of a body found on the Creek Falls Trail, located in the Columbia Shuswap Regional District Park near Two Mile Road in Mara.

The location was at the base of a steep incline leading to a cliff above, according to an RCMP news release.

Officers and the BC Coroners Service attended, and the investigation is in its early stages.

The Sicamous RCMP partnered with Shuswap Search and Rescue to assist with the recovery.

“This investigation is ongoing but at this time it appears this is a tragic incident, we would like to thank the partners who assisted us on this file and the recovery of the deceased’s body,” said Sicamous RCMP commander Sgt. Murray McNeil.

Any witnesses in the area are asked to come forward by calling the Sicamous detachment at (250) 836-2878.
