Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas‘ beloved dog Waldo Picasso was struck and killed by a car in New York City, according to reports. The incident occurred Wedneday when Waldo, an Alaskan Klee Kai, was being walked by their dog walker. Waldo was leashed but reportedly broke free after getting spooked.

A car struck and killed Waldo when he ran into the street. Their reps are calling it a “freak accident,” and are reportedly distraught by his death. They reported the accident to the New York City Police Department two days later after seeking therapy for their grief. They reportedly cannot charge the person who hit their dog; TMZ reports that dogs are considered property, and despite the driver not leaving information or stopping after the accident, it’s not against the law to do so.

The newlyweds welcomed Waldo in April of 2018, along with his brother Porky Basquiat, whom Jonas got for Turner as a gift. They frequently posted about their pups on social media, and Jonas posed with them for People‘s Sexiest Man Alive issue in November of 2018.

“They live a pretty fabulous life,” Jonas told People, adding that Porky and Waldo have already traveled to France, England, Canada, Amsterdam and all over America. “They have probably traveled more than most of my friends.”
