SALMON ARM, B.C. — Police are urging drivers to be cautious after a pair of motorcycle crashes on Highway 1 between Revelstoke and Salmon Arm.

Yesterday morning (July 25), emergency officials responded to a serious collision at the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 97-B east of Salmon Arm.

A pickup truck travelling west on Highway 1 turned left in front of an eastbound motorcycle in the controlled intersection.

The pickup driver wasn’t injured, but the motorcyclist, an Alberta man in his 60s, was taken to hospital in serious condition.

“This is the second collision involving a motorcycle on Highway 1 between Salmon Arm and Revelstoke in recent days and police would like to remind all motorists to be vigilant as they travel around BC,” B.C. RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Mike Halskov says in a news release. “Please drive defensively, obey speed limits, wear seat belts, drive sober and drive distraction-free every time you get behind the wheel.”
