SALMON ARM — Swimmers, campers, and those headed out on the water are being warned of possible bacteria contamination in parts of Shuswap Lake today.

The Adams Lake Indian Band issued a beach advisory today (July 20), which states that the water is unsafe for swimming and other activities due to the presence of E. coli bacteria.

The areas impacted include the Sandy Point Campground, Pierre’s Point Campground and Glen Echo Campground.

The statement from the band says water testing found high levels of the bacteria in the area, which can pose health risks to people exposed to it.
