KAMLOOPS — After yesterday’s stormy weather, summer is coming back to Kamloops.

Environment Canada forecaster Bobby Sekhon says the gusty winds and rain yesterday should be holding off for now.

“We are right around normal (precipitation levels) right now,” he says. “We usually get about 31 millimetres of precipitation in July in Kamloops and we’ve had 30.6, so pretty much bang on normal so far this month and a drier outlook ahead.”

That drier outlook starts this afternoon in Kamloops, Sekhon says.

“We’ve had a few showers in the area this morning but as we get into the afternoon and into the weekend a ridge of high pressure is building in, giving drier conditions,” he says. “We’ll also see temperatures get back up in the normal range and also creep into the 30s, possibly reaching mid 30s by early next week.”

Sekhon says it’ll be a good weekend to get outdoors, ahead of an uncertain weather pattern that could pass through next week.

“There could be a bit of a disturbance coming through with some light showers however that still remains to be seen, and we’ll know closer to the time, but nonetheless this weekend looks great, good time to get out and enjoy the weather.”
