“Building Hexo has been one of the greatest privileges of my life,” Miron said. “I am a builder. What I see today is an established company with amazing leadership across all functions. I would like to thank the entire team and all our supporters for making this possible.”

Miron, along with Sebastien St-Louis, co-founded Hexo in 2013.

The Gatineau-based cannabis company was originally named Hydropothecary. It grew to become a leading producer of cannabis products just as Canada legalized recreational cannabis last fall.

Hexo is now listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

In 2017, Hexo signed on former Kamloops mayor and B.C. cabinet minister Terry Lake as its vice-president of corporate and social responsibility. Lake will take a leave from the role as he runs in the 2019 federal election.

Miron will remain on the company’s board of directors, and will continue to sit as president of the board of directors for the company’s Greek affiliate.
