KAMLOOPS — The Mustard Seed New Life Community in Kamloops has announced the closure of its men’s recovery program.

In a news release, The Mustard Seed says it’s closing the program to develop stronger, more robust programming and services for Kamloops and the area.

“Our team is looking at how we can transition our programs to better serve our community and homeless neighbours who want to remain sober,” said managing director Diane Down. “After running the program for years, it was time for our team to ensure that what we are doing today is in line with best practices and evidence to ensure that those we serve are supported in a way that maximizes their successful outcomes in the future.”

The closure is effective July 31 and current recovery program residents will be transitioned into other housing opportunities to finish their recovery.

“We thank our supporters, volunteers, and donors for their support as we make this change, anticipating new programming to start as soon as this September,” said Down. “We are excited about the future of the programs we operate in Kamloops because we know they will help change lives.”
