BIG BAR, B.C. — The B.C. government says new data is being processed in relation to the Big Bar landslide that is preventing most salmon from migrating up the Fraser River near Clinton.
The government says the data will help determine the stability of the slope around the slide, while data for individual fish will be collected using catch and tag methods as soon as possible.
Officials are continuing to assess options to help hundreds of thousands of Chinook reach upstream spawning grounds.
The province says starting Monday recreational fisheries in southern B.C. will be prohibited from keeping Chinook larger than 80 centimetres.
