Kamloops Venom drop Game 1 of league final in double overtime
KAMLOOPS — The Venom looked to have the opening game of the Thompson Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League final in control.
But the visiting South Okanagan Flames, in their first-ever league final, mounted a late comeback before winning 16-15 in double overtime to steal the opener on the road.
The home side went up 14-11 with 6:56 to play in the third period when Trey Dergousoff scored to put Kamloops up by three.
The score remained that way until South Okanagan tallied one with 3:09 to go. The Flames would score twice more, including the game-tying goal with 58 seconds left to force overtime.
