KAMLOOPS — The Thompson-Okanagan Junior Lacross League final begins Friday night at Memorial Arena. For the first time in eight years, however, the Kamloops Venom have a different opponent in the best-of-five championship series.

The Venom face off against the South Okanagan Flames, who are in the championship series for the first time in their history.

Kamloops has met the Vernon Tigers in the last seven finals, but the Tigers were defeated by the Flames in the semi-final series. The Venom earned a bye in the three-team league by finishing first during the regular season.

Game time is 7:30 at Memorial Arena. Game 2 of the best-of-five series is Sunday in Penticton.
