Province-wide overdose death totals on the decline

VICTORIA — There are some positive signs in the battle against illicit overdose deaths in B.C.

New numbers provided by the B.C. Coroners Service show a total of 84 overdose deaths in the month of May.

That represents two fewer than April, and 28 per cent fewer than May of 2018.

The year-to-date total as of May 2019 is 462 overdose deaths, a 29 per cent drop compared to the first five months of 2018.
