KAMLOOPS — The suspect in a Canada Day stabbing in downtown Kamloops has been charged with aggravated assault.

31-year-old Patrick Rejean Paul-Prescott was formally charged Wednesday (July 3).

A 54-year-old man was seriously injured after being stabbed near Fifth Avenue and Victoria Street at roughly 10:00 p.m. July 1.

Officers responded downtown quickly and in numbers after the alleged assault, but weren’t able to track down the suspect.

Yesterday, police confirmed they had made an arrest.

Paul-Prescott has a lengthy criminal history in the city, including convictions for theft, possessing a break-in instrument, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and several breaches.

He’s due back in court July 22 for a bail hearing for his aggravated assault charge.
