Summer lane closures on Coquihalla begin Wednesday

HOPE, B.C. — It’s summertime, which also means construction season.

Lane closures will be in effect on Highway 5 roughly 25 kilometres north of Hope starting tomorrow.

The provincial government says crews will rehabilitate the 30-year-old Carolin Bridge.

On Sundays from 8:00 p.m. until fridays at 8:00 a.m., traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.

An additional counterflow lane will be in place from Friday mornings to Sunday evenings.

Drivers should expect delays of up to 30 minutes and should try to travel outside the following peak times:

• Southbound: Fridays 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Sundays 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.; holiday Mondays noon to 6:00 p.m.
• Northbound: Fridays noon to 4:00 p.m., or 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on long weekends.
