Riverside Park concession stand reopens for the summer

KAMLOOPS — After it was announced that the Riverside Park concession stand would not be opening this year, the City is reversing course.

The City of Kamloops says in a news release that the stand was reopened in time for the Canada Day weekend and Papa G’s Cafe will continue as the operator.

The temporary closure was announced last month.

Food trucks were due to stand in place for the concession. Now, mobile food vendors will still be on site in the park periodically throughout the summer.

“Due to busy summer schedules, the City recognized the need to reopen the concession in order to provide consistent, daily service in the park,” the release says.

“We were excited for the concession to reopen in time for Canada Day,” said Sean Smith, the City’s Business Operations and Events Supervisor. “Our goal is for the concession to remain open during Music in the Park and throughout the summer 2019 season.”

The concession opened on Sunday (June 30), with Papa G’s operating it seven days per week from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
