Canfor Pulp announces temporary curtailments in Prince George

Jun 28, 2019 | 1:37 PM

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — Canfor Pulp Products has announced it will be implementing phased summer curtailments in July and August at its Intercontinental and Northwood NBSK pulp mills in Prince George.

The company attributes the move to “a significant deterioration in market conditions, in combination with fibre supply constraints and higher fibre costs resulting from recent sawmill curtailments across the BC industry.”

The Intercontinental mill will be down from July 12th to August 12th, impacting 241 employees while Northwood will be down August 15th to September 9th, affecting 518 employees.

The curtailments will reduce Canfor Pulp’s production output by approximately 75,000 tonnes of NBSK pulp.
