KAMLOOPS — The Blazers had one player taken in this weekends NHL draft.

Defenceman Quinn Schmiemann went in round six to Tampa Bay, the 182nd overall pick.

Earlier defenceman John Ludvig, who is from Kamloops and plays for the Portland Winterhawks, was drafted in round three by Florida.

Schmiemann and Ludvig will both be attending NHL development camps this week.

Other Blazers or former Blazers going to camps this week include free agent Jermaine Loewen and signed goaltender Dylan Ferguson to Vegas, Luke Zazula and Brodi Stuart to Dallas and Montana Oneybuchi to Calgary.

Diego Cuglietta, who is from Kamloops, will also be attending the Dallas development camp.

Cuglietta, who played for Lake Superior State College, played three games with the Stars farm team last season.

Massimo Rizzo was the second to last player taken in this weekends NHL draft, in round seven at 216 overall, by the Carolina Hurricanes.

Rizzo was the Blazers first round bantam pick in 2016, but opted for the NCAA route, and played the last two seasons with the Penticton Vees.
