Prague, CZ — After running the table in the round robin and shutting out the host team in the quarterfinals, the Canadian Men’s National softball team’s bid for a world championship is over.

Team Canada fell to Argentina 7-0 in the second semifinal of the day in Prague. Huemul Mata struck out nine Canadian batters and surrendered just two hits in the circle for Argentina. Saskatoon’s Devon McCullough took the loss, as he gave up five earned runs on three hits in just an inning and a third of work.

Team Canada was second in the World Baseball Softball Confederation rankings heading into the tournament. Five players on the national team roster are from BC. The head coach John Stuart resides in Merritt, BC and assistant coach Doug Allin is from the South Okanagan.
