Jessup acquitted in 2014 KRCC death
KAMLOOPS — Nathaniel Jessup has been acquitted of the 2014 killing of 20-year-old Dylan Judd inside Kamloops Regional Correctional Centre.
B.C. Supreme Court Justice Sheri Donegan said the Crown’s circumstantial case left her with reasonable doubt, and said it’s not definitive that Jessup killed Judd.
Defence argued Judd died by suicide, while Crown argued Jessup killed him. In her remarks, Donegan said while Crown’s theory was certainly possible, so was that of the defence.
Judd’s body was found inside his KRCC cell on November 10, 2014. His death was initially deemed a suicide, but the B.C. Coroners Service alerted police to potential criminality during a later investigation.
