KAMLOOPS — A man and woman from Kamloops are facing charges after a traffic stop downtown.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in a news release that at 2:00 a.m. June 19, an officer did a routine traffic stop on Seymour Street.

When the officer approached the car, he saw a taser and a hunting knife near the centre console.

The man and woman inside of the car were arrested without incident and the vehicle was searched subsequent to the arrest.

Shelkie says there were two tasers, two cans of bear spray, a collapsible baton, two machetes, a hatchet and numerous knives inside the vehicle.

The 45-year-old woman was released with a future court date, and the 50-year-old man was taken into custody to go before a judge. He’s facing charges of possession of a weapon while prohibited, possession of a dangerous weapon, and possession of a weapon with no licence.
