KAMLOOPS — The family of Lorne Hamer-Jackson is overjoyed today, following his safe return.

Hamer-Jackson had gone missing some time overnight Saturday, leaving his home in Brocklehurst in his wife’s Chevy Cobalt.

His family began a desperate search for him Sunday, scouring the streets of Kamloops and neighbouring communities.

Three days later, Hamer-Jackson returned to his home, confused and suffering from heat stroke.

“It was just before 9:00 p.m., and we were actually going to move our vehicles and we were going to go out on a night search last night, so we were coordinating all those groups,” said Lorne’s sister, Loni Hamer-Jackson. “A lot of the family was there. All of a sudden, actually, it was my husband that got up and went, ‘Oh my god, oh my god, that’s Lorne.'”

Sunburned, dehydrated and disorientated, Lorne was embraced and given food and water.

“He wasn’t sure why everybody was there; he still wasn’t quite sure where he had been,” Loni said. “He was still very, very confused.”

When Lorne had left his home he had taken his wife’s car, but did not have his wallet of identification.

“The car is still missing, so we still would like to reach out to people now, to be looking for that black Chevy Cobalt,” Loni said. “We have mentioned — and there’s posters everywhere — that the license plate is PBJ 430. So, we’re still looking for the vehicle. He can’t remember where and when he left that vehicle.”

According to his sister, Lorne had been dropped off by a man who said he found him in Westsyde, but did not know of the family’s desperate search.

“When Ted dropped him off — I think his name was Ted — he just dropped him off and there was so many of us that he left,” Loni said. “So we really need him to contact us.”

The family is hoping the man will help lead them to the missing car.

Lorne is now in hospital getting tests done to determine what caused his confusion, but he is slowly returning back to his normal self.
