KAMLOOPS — The home of Lorne Hamer-Jackson has become search headquarters for the 57-year-old husband and father.

“We’ve had friends that we know that have airplanes, my brother’s got a friend that’s already had his airplane up this morning,” said Lorne’s sister Loni Hamer-Jackson.

“We’ve got friends out there now with drones and four-wheelers, and we’ve got a grid search map in town and out of town and I don’t even know how many groups of searchers we have. They just keep coming and going.”

Lorne was last seen by family members Saturday evening.

“Although he was agitated and kind of anxious a bit, he seemed of sound mind and he seemed okay,” Loni said. “He was just going to get ready and go to bed and that was at 9:15 and that’s the last that he’s been seen.”

Loni says her brother has been struggling through some mental health issues over the past few years.

“He’s been dealing with lots of anxiety and his depression’s kind of kept him housebound,” she said, “so he doesn’t drive often. My sister-in-law had left her vehicle here, which is a 2006-2007 Chevy Cobalt, black, and she had his truck, and he had left his wallet with all of his I.D. and everything in his console, so she had that at the lake.”

Searchers started looking in Lorne’s neighbourhood in Brocklehurst and have spread out across the city and beyond.

They are asking the public to keep their eyes peeled for the car he was driving.

“If people have dashcams in the Brock area, in the Happyvale Avenue area, any kind of footage from their homes, that would really help,” said family member Kevin Cassidy.

Lorne’s family says his disappearance is out of character.

“Lorne would just not put the family through this,” Loni said, “so we’re thinking that if he is stranded, he just can’t get to help. So, we’re just hoping that someone will find that vehicle.”
