SUN PEAKS — Sun Peaks Resort is now offering a way for couples looking for an affordable wedding option to say ‘I do’ in the mountains.

August 10, the Sun Peaks Grand will host a number of pop-up weddings– effectively removing the stress and expense of planning a wedding.

Wedding Planner Faith Yurkiw, who came up with the package idea says this is the first time the resort has offered the quick fix, which boasts all inclusive amenities.

“We have an outdoor ceremony venue, an officiant, a photographer, a videographer, floral arrangements, dinner up to 12 guests, a one night stay at the Sun Peaks grand and a couple of other little special touches.”

Excluding tax, the packages cost a total of $3,500.00, and Yurkiw says there are two options for couples to choose from.

“So we kind of have this fun little communal backyard barbecue theme that we’re wanting to do on the massive patio with some champagne and what not as well,” She explains, “And then we do understand that couples obviously might want more of an intimate evening as well, so we do have the option of doing a reservation at Mantles or something like that.”

Working with the sales team, Yurkiw says she hopes it’ll become a regular event at the resort municipality.

“We get a ton of inquiries for elopements. People are just kind of looking for that convenience of they just want to pay one chunk of money and show up and not have to do that much,” She says, “Because there’s a lot of work that goes into weddings.”

According to Yurkiw, the inspiration behind the venture was to have another way for people to enjoy the area.

“I had a great date that was available that I obviously wanted to use (August 10),” She explains, “Which I can use to go an book an elaborate wedding too, but we have tons of people who want to experience Sun Peaks, and sometimes it’s just not right in their price point. I want to be able to include everybody. I think everybody should be able to experience Sun Peaks and get to go up on the chair lift, be in the mountains, and do it all.”

With 5 couples already signed up, Yurkiw notes there are only a few spots left to book, and those interested can contact events@sunpeaksgrand.com.
