Lower fees for some waste, higher fees for other items at TNRD disposal sites

KAMLOOPS — Fee changes are coming to TNRD Eco-Depots and Transfer Changes that will affect several categories of disposals.

Effective June 28, dropping off large appliances like residential refrigerators, freezers, water coolers and portable air conditioners will be free. The move comes as the TNRD launches a collaboration with the Major Appliance Recycling Roundtable (MARR).

Fees for dropping off mattresses and box springs are on the increase, though. The TNRD says the new $15-per-unit fee reflects “the true cost of processing”.

Businesses and commercial users will now be faced with a $40-per-tonne fee for dropping off yard waste.
