KAMLOOPS — A proposed cannabis grow operation in Logan Lake is inching towards reality.

Originally, MedFlora Pharmaceutical had plans to open its medicinal plant greenhouse and cannabis facility this spring.

According to Logan Lake’s Chief Administrative Officer, Randy Lambright, the company now has the go-ahead from Health Canada.

A rezoning application has been submitted for a lot within the Apex Industrial Park.

“(MedFlora is) now in the process of preparing some technical data, some updates in terms of where they’re at regarding smells, how they’re going to mitigate some of the issues with regards to water intake, sewage, all of those types of things,” Lambright said.

Once that information has been provided, as well as a public open house, staff will present a report to council requesting a public hearing.

“The intent is that they would like to apply for a building permit this year, which would then, all things being equal, they would be hitting the ground likely sometime in the new year, in 2020,” Lambright said. “They anticipate two shifts of 50, so upwards of 100 employees being employed at the plant.”
